Open session discussions:
Review of by-laws: We started the meeting by wondering if we had a quorum so we reviewed the by-laws to find out. Here is what it says- "A quorum for any general or special meeting of KNA shall be the number of members in attendance." We weren't exactly sure what this meant but concluded (with no action taken) the need to review our by-laws during the January meeting. Examples of by-laws from other neighborhoods were brought up as good places to start for our own review. Comments were made on having a committee work on this project, specifically. I believe it was Vicki(?) who came up with a proposal on this and handed out hard-copies. Vicki- can you email this to the whole board? Please start a discussion on this.
Grant developments for Kenton- Kathy mentioned her chat with PP's about movie night in the park as well as movie night in the firehouse and they were very excited. Kathy- how about a discussion on this one with updates?
Treasurer's report- I'll let Brenda field this. Sorry, but my brain starts buzzing when people talk about money.
Community trash/clean-up- Jud is looking into organizing a neighborhood clean-up. We discussed doing this on our own vs. tagging onto the general North clean-up. I will look into when the next North event is (if someone knows, please comment.) Jud spoke about this clean-up being a real community event to help build pride for our neighborhood. I'll let Jud add to this if he may.
Update on NP Library- Well, it's really starting to sound like Kenton is going to get a library. Brenda gave us a quick update on the progress and we are all excited! Brenda, please add to this if you like.
Interstate renaming- I think we all know where the City is with this one. This topic largely ended up in a conversation about community outreach/communication and how we, the KNA and neighborhood itself, can come up with a plan for the future. This is another topic needing a Outreach Committee! Around this topic we discussed: - Strategic locations for bulletin boards (local businesses, North Strar, etc.) - Permanent signs/bulleting boards (Firehouse, Kenton entrance, etc.) - getting involved with the KBA - mapping out where KNA members live to possibly hand out newsletters by hand instead of mailing them (Overlook NA does this with a similar amount of homes, I believe) - This topic also led to the desire to review all the work we did with Tom G.V. last summer. Aaron, can add this to the agenda to the Dec. meeting?
December meeting: We would like to have a Holiday pot-luck for our December meeting. Everyone game for this? Any ideas? One agenda item to add- Alicia Crain from the BTA would like to discuss Bike Boulevards in Portland/Kenton. |
