Kenton Rose Garden

Kenton Rose GardenThe Kenton Rose Garden needs your help! Costs of water and upkeep of the roses are $200-$400 per year. Help us maintain this valuable Kenton resource by donating or volunteering your time.

The Rose Garden is located in the triangle between N. Interstate Ave.,  N. McClellan St., and N. Interstate Pl., two blocks from Paul Bunyan.

Please contact Tim Batog at if you are interested in helping keep up the Rose Garden or nearby Paul Bunyan Plaza.  Tasks include watering, pruning, weeding, and planting new plants.

The rose garden is now functioning under an Adopt-a-Bed program.  Feel free to share with a friend/neighbor or whatever, especially some of the bigger ones. Once you've adopted a bed, the idea is that you take care of weeding/pruning/deadheading of that bed, whenever you have time.  Not ready to commit to your own bed?  Help out with general maintenance.   Either way, contact Tim Batog at for more information.

Historic Kenton Firehouse

Old FirehouseThe Historic Kenton Firehouse, dedicated in 1913, was the first city-built station in North Portland. The facility, with its distinctive Second Renaissance revival architecture, was built on land donated by a subsidiary of the Swift Meat Company.

Used by the city until 1959, the firehouse was designated an historical landmark in 1976 and awarded by the City of Portland into foster care of neighborhood volunteers in 1977.

The Firehouse has been a catalyst for public and private improvements in the neighborhood, and is used for North Portland family, community and business gatherings. The main room used to house the hose wagon and the kitchen, and the horses. The firemen were housed upstairs where the North Portland Neighborhood Services office is located.

Rent out the Historic Kenton firehouse for your private events!
